pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise...
[Proverbs 22:17]

BEFORE RAVENBLACK

Meliora was always a smart girl, but she was never a very kind girl. And kindness may not get you far, but it will get you much farther than elitism and pride. Had Meliora known this, she may not have torn through quite so many foster families.

Her pride in her intelligence did not protect her from depression. Her seeming inability to be loved by those around her created in Meliora a deep-rooted sense of self-loathing. Before she even aged out of the foster system she began exploring methods of self-destruction. Alcohol and cigarettes numbed her anger and slowed her racing thoughts, sex with strangers superficially inflated her self-worth, and petty crime provided a certain level of intellectual stimulation.

Of course, trespassing is no big deal until you walk in on a massacre.

The vampire was about as surprised to see Meliora as she was to see them and their slaughtered victims. Meliora managed to kill the creature, but technically did not survive the encounter. Her victory felt hollow when she realized the vampire was the only one who could have properly guided her into her new life. She was alone, now, alone in a way that surpassed anything she had ever experienced.

Or so she thought.

She heard whispers about a city where people went missing every night -- a city with the lowest murder rate in the country only because no bodies were ever found. Meliora found RavenBlack City at the lowest point of her (un)life... only time will tell if she will survive it.

IN RAVENBLACK

Meliora has remained a loner during her time in Ravenblack. She has spent countless hours studying city lore, trying to understand her new home -- as well as her new condition. Most of her money and energy has been devoted to mastering her vampiric abilities. She spent the entirety of 2018 lost in shadows, overwhelmed by depression and fear; however, in the summer of 2019 she roused herself and resumed her quest for knowledge and power.

During her time in Ravenblack, Meliora has developed a taste for the blood of vampire hunters. She has been brought to zero by the bastards a time or two, but the payoff is almost always worth it. It should be noted that Meliora does not hate vampire hunters. As someone who died killing a vampire, she has the utmost respect for them. However, their blood is much richer than that of a normal human, and their wallets much heavier. While she admires their determination, her stomach and her bank account demand that she hunt them relentlessly.
